Miners find a rock that was formed from magma deep underground. What type of rock could it be?

Most likely either a gabbro or a granite. Less likely, but possible is a diorite.

Explanation:

Gabbros are a dark magma that are called "magic" as they contain a number of dark minerals. Granites are another kind of magma that are light in color and have a lot of "felsic" minerals in them. A Diorite is intermediate in composition between a gabbro and granite.

An even rarer possibility would be a rock called a kimberlite which often contains diamonds.
