Lisa has 36 stickers and John has 24. So as a ratio it is:

#36:24 = 3:2#

So Lisa has 3 stickers to every 2 John has.

Explanation:

L = Lisa's stickers

J = John's stickers

Lisa has 12 more than John:

#L = J +12#

Together they have 60 stickers:

#L+J = 60#

Now you have 2 equations and 2 unknowns so you can solve, substitute the value of L from the first equation into the second equation:

#color(red)(L)+J = 60#

#( J +12)+J = 60#

#2J +12 = 60#

#2J = 48#

#J=24#

Okay, we know how many stickers John has, now insert 24 for J into either of the original equations to solve for L:

#L+color(red)(J) = 60#

#L+24 = 60#

#L=36#
