I agree with you. Answer D is correct, provided the masses are the same, so I guess this is their ‘get out’.

If we re-write the heat capacity equation we would effectively get the gradient on the graph, #theta = Q/(m xx c)# (wanted this to format as a differential w.r.t. time but can’t do it???)

Clearly, either m or c or both must differ between X and Y. Both statements 2 & 3 are obviously true.
