Transpiration is a process of movement of water through the plant and its evaporation from the aerial parts (parts exposed directly to air) like stems, leaves and flowers. Transpiration results in major loss of water from the plant and only a small amount of water is used by it.
Water is mainly lost from underside of leaves through their Stomata when they open for gaseous exchange.
