Well, first off, we must mention an issue of SAFETY ....

Explanation:

"You add ACID to water and NEVER WATER to the acid."

Why not?

"Because if you spit in acid it spits back....I kid you not."

The conc. hydrochloric acid bottle I have in front of me now claims...

%34("m/m"), and rho=1.169*g*mL^-1...and thus we work out the "molarity"="moles of solute"/"volume of solution"

And so working from a 1*mL volume we gots....

((34%xx1*mLxx1.169*g*mL^-1)/(36.46*g*mol^-1))/(1xx10^-3*L)=10.90*mol*L^-1...

And since C_1V_1=C_2V_2

V_1=(C_2V_2)/(C_1)=(7.0*mol*L^-1xx100*mL)/(10.90*mol*L^-1)=64.2*mL...

...the which we add to 36*mL of water....(the solution will get hot!).

AGAIN YOU ADDS ACID TO WATER AND NEVER THE REVERSE. "CLARO?"
