Circumference of Circle and Radius Diameter Relation will be used.

Explanation:

As Parchment cover will cover the whole cake along its circumference.

We know that The circumference of a circle is the distance around that circle.

Mathematically it is given by Circumference = #2pi(R)#
where #pi# = 3.14 or 22/7 (as per the specification in question)
and R = Radius of Circle.

Parchment paper is 37.68 inches which is circumference.
Upon solving
#37.68= 2 pi R#
#37.68= 2 (3.14) R#
#37.68= 6.28 R#
#6=R#
As Diameter is #D=2R#
Therefore it will be #D=2*6#
Hence answer is 12.
