Land breeze occurs are night, sea breeze during day.

Explanation:

During the day the land heats up faster than the water, this causes the air over the land to increase in volume. This increase in volume results in an increase in buoyancy and therefor the air rises. This creates a low pressure over the land that the cooler water over the sea will move into to balance. This moving air is a sea breeze.

During the night the water releases it's heat much slower causing the air over the water to be warmer than the air over the land. This ends up working the same as the sea breeze only this time the lower pressure is over the sea and the air then moves from the land.
