#13# boxes

Explanation:

The biggest issue with word problems is trying to decide what operation to do. Consider an easy question first.
How many packets of biscuits with #8# in a packet can be packed from #56# biscuits? We need to divide, to find out how times #8# can be obtained from #56#

#56 div 8 =7# packets.

In the same way we are trying to find out how many times an area of #24# sq ft can be obtained from #304.6875# sq ft?

#304.6875 div 24 = 12.695# boxes.

the problem is that you can only buy full boxes, not part of a box.
If you buy #12# boxes, there will not be enough flooring material to cover the whole floor.

Therefore #13# boxes must be bought. This will allow the whole floor to be covered, and there will be a some flooring left over.
(Which is never a bad thing for possible repairs later)
