Assuming that the ball is dropped with zero initial velocity #u#. We use the kinematic expression

#h=ut+1/2at^2#
where #h# is height #a# acceleration and #t# time taken to reach surface of the moon.,

Inserting given vales in the expression we get

#2.57=0xxt+1/2(1.6)t^2#
#=>t=sqrt(2.57xx2/1.6)#
#=>t=+-1.8\ s#

Ignoring negative root as time can not be negative we obtain

#=>t=1.8\ s#
