Width is #4 2/3# inches

It is the fractions which makes this question sound harder than it is.

If the question had read..

The area is #12# squ inches and the length is #6# inches, we would know easily that the width is #2# inches.

#A = l xx w " "rarr w = A/l = 12/6 = 2#

The method is exactly the same with the fractions.
The problem is about dividing with fractions.

#w = A/l = 30 1/3 div 6 1/2#

#w = 91/3 div 13/2#

#w = 91/3 xx2/13#

#w = cancel91^7/3 xx2/cancel13#

#w = 14/3#
