According to Kinetic theory of gases RMS speed #v_"rms"# is found from the expression

#v_"rms"=sqrt((3k_BT)/m)#
where #k_B# is Boltzmann constant #=1.380 × 10^-23 \ J K^-1#,
#T# is temperature in #K# and #m# is mass of particle.

We know that #bb(NTP)# is Normal Temperature and Pressure and is defined as air at #20^@C\ (293.15\ K) and 1\ sf(atm)# pressure. Inserting given values in above expression we get

#v_"rms"=sqrt((3xx1.380 × 10^-23xx293.15)/(50xx10^-15))#
#=>v_"rms"=1.55xx10^-3\ ms^-1#
