The sides of a hexagon each equal 116 units. What are its perimeter and its area?

Dec 6, 2015

Area = 39,959.71 sq units
Perimeter = 696 units

Explanation:

Perimeter = 6xa (where a is the length of a side)
= 6x 116 units

Area = $\frac{3 \sqrt{3} {a}^{2}}{2}$
= 39,959.71 sq. units

Note:
For a regular hexagon , each internal angle = 360/6 =60
this means that we are having six equilateral triangles.

Therefore area = $\left(\sqrt{3} {a}^{2} / 4\right) 6 = \frac{3 \sqrt{3} {a}^{2}}{2}$
