Explanation:

Convert both fractions into decimals for ease:

#5(1)/4=5.25#
#3/4=0.75#

Divide how much silk you have by how much you need per scarf:

#("how much silk you have")/("amount of silk needed per scarf")->(5.25)/(0.75)=7#

(P.S. - You could also solve this using fractions and using the #KFC# method (Keep Flip Change) to divide fractions. But I personally like decimals more.
