Explanation:

There are 2 equivalent ways to calculate impulse:

  • #"Impulse" = "Average force of contact"*"time of contact"#
  • #"Impulse" = "Change of momentum"#

For this problem, you need the 2nd method.

#"Impulse" = m*V_i - m*V_f#
#"Impulse" = 15 kg*8 m/s - 15 kg*(-8 m/s) = 240 (kg*m)/s#
