This question is in my math text. Simplify the following expression expressing as a single trigonometric ratio: sin ø + tan ø It says the answer is cos ø but I can't see how to get there? any help would be greatly appreciated

I can easily work out simplifying the multiplication and division of trig identities but for some reason can't work out this addition problem. It says the answer is cos ø

Explanation:

it is impossible that:
sin t + tan t = cos t
Take an example.
`t = pi/4` --> `sin t = sqrt2/2` --> `cos t = sqrt2/2` --> `tan t = 1`.
We get:
`sqrt2/2 + 1 = sqrt2/2` . It is impossible !
