Nazism was ideology based on ancient myths of German (Arayan) superiority. This was in direct conflict modernism view of equality of all people in the world.

Explanation:

The Nazi's were socialist that believed that nationalism was the ultimate reality. Everything should belong to the government and by extension ultimate loyalty should be given to the Fuhrer ( father)
The third Reich was believed to be the fulfillment of Germany's past glories as the source of ancient civilization. As such Germans deserved to rule the world, as they had in this mythical past.

Modernism was thought of as the movement to a rational future based on the equality of all people.Nazism believed in a world ruled by a superior elite and the subjection of the inferior races. Modernism looked to the future as the utopia , while Nazism looked to the past. Modernism used secular humanism as its religious world view. Nazism looked to the myths of Valallha, and the ancient pagan religions of Germany.

Nazism looked in horror at the structure of the communistic soviet union, and despised the " weak" democratic western nations. Nazism rejected the ideals of modernism of equality of people, the sharing of wealth, and personal freedom. Nazism was about the superiority of one race, the control of wealth and people by the elite. There was to be no personal freedom in Nazi Germany only complete allegiance to the Fuhrer .
