False. It's a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. Typically it is done with a mol ratio of

#"1 mol nitric acid"//"3 mol hydrochloric acid"#.

My professor has done this before to try to dissolve a stubborn solute... fuming green gas came up in the fume hood. It should be able to dissolve gold and platinum.
