Concrete language uses words that refer to specific things and actions and the senses. Abstract refers more to general ideas.

Concrete language:
One worker was pouring concrete, while another was cracking bricks with a chisel and hammer.
John held out a red rose to Jenny, then kissed her.
Abstract language:
The labourers were preparing the foundation and readying themselves to raise the wall.
The young man showed the woman a sign of affection.
