What are organic solvents?

1 Answer

Organic solvents are any organic materials that exist as liquids at room temperature. They're all capable of dissolving other organic molecules to one degree or another.

However, if they are talking about solvents capable of dissolving large organic nonpolar molecules easily then you would answer something like: carbon tetrachloride, diethyl ether, benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone (aka butanone), hexane, etc.
