Refer to the explanation.

Explanation:

SWARMING is a type of motility seen due to fusion of vegetative cells of bacteria resulting in thickened flagella formtation(about #18-20 mu m#)

Bacteria which show swarming are-

Proteus sp.

Clostridium tetani (except type 6)

Vibrio parahemolyticus

Serratia

Bacillus subtilis

Swarming causes contamination of bacterial culture media, which can be prevented by

1. Adding hard agar(#6%#)

2.: Using Boric acid,surface active agents,chloral hydrate,sodium azide etc.

3: McConkey Agar prevents swarming

4: CLED (Cysteine Lysine Electrolyte Deficient) Agar also prevents swarming
