What are the parts of a seed?

1 Answer

Seed coat, cotyledon, plumule, radicle, axis etc., are the main parts of an Angiospermic seed.

Explanation:

  1. Seed coat is an outer and protective covering of the seeds. Testa and tegmen are the parts of the seed coat.
  2. Cotyledon/s are the reserve food for future plant. Mainly starch is found in the cotyledon. On the basis of the number of the cotyledons, the plants are monocots or dicots.
  3. Plumule and radicle are the future shoot and root, respectively. They are joined at the axis. Some modifications are found in the seeds for their dispersal. Thank you
