What are the two major functions of the urinary system?
Urinary system removes nitrogenous excretory product and helps to maintain internal homeostasis of the body.
In humans, nitrogenous waste urea is excreted with urine.
The renal tubules also help to excrete desired amount of water thus maintaining internal water balance.
Free hydrogen ions are also excreted with urine (thereby making urine acidic), so that blood retains a pH of 7.4.
