Lets start with the basics. This is mainly a matter of opinion. For me, I would say Jerusalem and who has the rights to control it. The wall dividing the West Bank (an area of Palestine). Hamas

Explanation:

The Wall between Israel and Palestine is one of much controversy. It was built by the Israelis and in their words 'to keep out Hamas'. Whilst the Palestinians say 'It is a barrier to peace'. The other thing mentioned is the 'terror' group Hamas. I put in inverted commas because they are technically a political party inside of Palestine that are fighting for freedom from Israel. Whilst the Palestinians call them a political party, Israel call them a terror group. One man's terrorist another man's freedom fighter!

The last point is the one on Jerusalem. Israel and Palestine both claim that Jerusalem is the capital of their respective nations. The city is holy for Christians, Jews and Muslims and by recognising that it is the capital and building an embassy (cough cough Trump), you are recognising Israel as a country which won't go down well with other countries.

religion, politics, and economics.

Explanation:

1, politics are combined with religion in Islam. The Qurun states that Islam should be in political control of the land. That Israel is controlled by Jews is intolerable to religious Muslims.

  1. Jews feel that they need to be in political control of the land. after suffering persecution genocide and excile for generations, in Spain, Russia, Germany, and the Middle East ( yes the Islamic residences of the Palestine. persecuted and discriminated against the Jewish people under the rule of the Ottoman Turks. ) for the protection of the jewish people.

  2. These positions are irreconcilable. The Muslims want to be in political control of the entire land. The Jews want to be in political control of more than half of the land.

  3. The Muslims want complete control of Jerusalem. While Jerusalem was under the control of the Islamic state of Jordan from 1948 - 1967 ( Jordan claimed political control of all the land of Palestine, the local people who were displaced remained in refugee camps) Jews were not allow to worship in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the third holiest city to Islam

  4. The Jews would like to rebuild their temple on at least part of the temple mount. This is land is holy to the Jews. The wailing wall
the remains of the Jewish temple is the holist spot in the world to the Jews.

  5. The UN wanted to make Jerusalem an internationally controlled city. Neither the Muslims nor the Jews have been open to the idea. Both want control of the holy sites. Rebuilding a Jewish temple next to the Muslim temple would set off riots ( possibly wars) throughout the Muslim parts of the world. No compromise seems possible.

  6. the Muslim community controlled Palestine for 1200 of the last 2000 years. The muslims feel that the land and all the wealth in the land should belong to them ( The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem the religious leader in 1948 promised that after the land had been "cleansed " of the Jews that the Muslims could take the homes, farms and possessions of the jews some of whom had lived in the land for 2000 years.

  7. The Jews had purchased undesirable land from the Arabs, swamps, sand dunes, and desert. Since the Jews had improved the land the Jews felt the land belonged to them economically.

  8. The Muslims feel that the Jews cheated them as the land the jews purchased is now worth far more than what was paid.
