Waves erode land through simple processes like Corrosion, Hydraulic Action, Solution and Attrition.

Explanation:

In Corrosion, the land is eroded (mostly on coastal areas) by the scrubbing action of the waves on the sand and other fine materials on rocks in that area.

In Hydraulic Action, the powerful forces of the wave currents in cracks and fissures of rocks or the land, erodes rocks through compression.

In Solution, erosion of land occurs when there is chemical decomposition of limestone rocks by sea water. (Therefore, if the coastal are is mostly limestone, chemical decomposition of the limestone would occur causing erosion.)

In Attrition, land is eroded by the break up of rocks that bounce and strike against each other as they move along the coastal areas.
