They defended military intervention abroad, unlike the Old Right which was an Isolationist movement. They supported the Vietnam War in opposition to Communism as part of the Cold War. The Old Right was against it strongly.

They favored a certain amount of state intervention whereas the Old Right had risen in opposition to the New Deal and loathed state intevention. They defended a very strict respect of the Constitution.
