As a sphere 50% surface of Moon is always lit by Sun light.

Explanation:

As Moon goes round the earth in 27 days 8 hours we see only fraction of this 50% on some days..ON full moon night we are just opposite to Sun and we see all 50% 0f surface.enter image source here
