Oh wow, there are a lot!

Explanation:

First off, it depends on the neuron. Different chemical signals activate different neurons, and this is because each neuron has specific chemical receptors. The activation of these receptors are what may potentially stimulate the neuron.

Again, there are A LOT of neurotransmitters that stimulate other neurons, so I will focus on the three of the most important neurotransmitters.

The first is a neurotransmitter known as acetylcholine. It works on nerves all over the human body, including those in the brain.

The second important neurotransmitter is norepinephrine. This transmitter also acts on a lot of nerves all over the body.

The third important neurotransmitter is dopamine, and its most important actions are on neurons in the brain.
