Explanation:

The mujahideen fought the Soviets after that country's invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Solidarity became the main opposition to Soviet control of Poland centred round the shipyards of Gdansk. Freedom fighters is a generic term applicable to any group fighting or peacefully trying to achieve the liberation of their country from foreign influence and control.
