The Korean War(1950-1953)

Explanation:

The Korean War saw the involvement of the USA, China and Russia. The USA was part of the Western Bloc whereas the two others were part of the Eastern Bloc. South Korea was an ally of the USA whereas North Korea was an ally of the two others. This war occurred because each bloc longed to have the greatest number of allies possible.

It is important to know that no direct confrontation occurred between the USA and the USSR during the conflict. American soldiers were mobilized but they did not face Soviet troops, the USSR simply supplied North Korea with weapons. The absence of direct confrontation explains why it was called the Cold War.

The war ended in 1953 after Stalin's death and over 1 million people had died and yet the border remained the same, the South was pro-US whereas the North remained communist. This division still continues today.
