These were the countries occupied by the Soviet Union at the end of World War 2 and who had communist governments imposed upon them.

They were East Germany (which was the Soviet zone of occupation), Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

States which today are independent, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, became part of the Soviet Union.

Yugoslavia was communist but Tito managed to resist Soviet domination.
