The Wannsee Conference in January 1942 is generally regarded as the meeting where the definitive plans for the Final Solution were put in place.

Before Wannsee hundreds of thousands of Jews had been murdered with the Nazi invasion of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. However it was at Wannsee that an overall strategy was agreed. This resulted in a co-ordinated policy of transport and liquidation of European Jews from all corners of the continent.
