The Volstead Act provided avenues for enforcement of the 18th amendment which was the Prohibition Amendment.

Explanation:

The Volstead Act was enacted by Congress in 1919 and put into effect in 1920. Allowed for the enforcement of Prohibition as determined under the 18th Amendment. The act set the guidelines and standards by which the production, distribution and commerce of Alcoholic Beverages, were thereby made illegal in the United States.

The Act was originally vetoed by President Woodrow Willson and then overturned in Congress.
