What do you think the newly independent Latin American countries thought of the Monroe Doctrine?

The newly independent countries thought that the Monroe Doctrine was a really good shield from the rest of the world. The US basically told the rest of the world to back off from the Americas, so the newly independent countries were protected from being colonized once again. They were able to begin their independent rule.
However, the US will intervene in Latin America in the future.. which the countries will not be happy about.
