Explanation:

The surface of red blood cells may contain certain antigens (which can cause immune responses if foreign to the body).
The possible antigens are:
#color(white)("XXX")#A,
#color(white)("XXX")#B, and
#color(white)("XXX")#Rh

An #AB+# blood type contains all 3 antigens (the #+# refers to the presents of the Rh antigen.

Receiving blood which contains an antigen not native to the body can be fatal but there is no problem receiving blood which does not contain an antigen normally found in the body.

A person with AB+ blood could receive a transfusion from anyone but could only safely donate to another person with AB+ blood.
