What evidence did Darwin use to support his theory of evolution?

I can think of one piece, which are the fossils.

Explanation:

Well, he used to collect old fossils and examine them, during a voyage on the H.M.S. Beagle.

Remember that, fossils are evidence for evolution.

When he got to Argentina, he found a giant fossil that looked like an armadillo's shell, but he was surprised when only small armadillos lived near the area.

When he got to another place in South America, he found huge bones (fossils) of sloths, but again, he was amazed when only small sloths were around in that area.

I hope that helps. As always, I might be wrong.
