A fibrous joint between two bones and linked by ligaments and a strong membrane


The most commonly known syndesmostic joint is the Distal Tibiofibular Syndesmosis. This is a fibrous joint between the dista and and fibular, linked by ligaments and a strong membrane. Unlike most joints, it has limited freedom of movement, designed as it is to help the ankle durring weight-carrying activities. Another example of a syndesmostic joint is the radioulnar joint.
