Air (a mixture of many gases) is inhaled; oxygen is absorbed in the lungs.

Explanation:

In the process of breathing , air is inhaled through the nasal passages and mouth.

Air is a mixture of many gases of which the two major gases are Nitrogen and Oxygen.

In the lungs, at the level of the alveoli (the tiny sacs at the end of bronchioles) oxygen is the gas that diffuses through the alveolar walls into the blood within the capillaries surrounding the alveoli.

This oxygen binds with haemoglobin in the blood to be then transported to the rest of the body.
