Herbert Hoover was ousted from the presidency by Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

In 1932, Herbert Hoover lost the election to his Democratic opponent, because he had been unable to fix the 1929 crisis.

Hoover had even declared something very awkward and ironic "We have not yet reached the goal, but given a chance to go forward with the policies of the last eight years, and [sic] we shall soon with the help of God be in sight of the day when poverty will be banished from this Nation."

It has remained in American History one of the most ironically false statements ever.
