Consider a control group as a "constraint" variable. It is a data group that normally is used to compare with other experimental data in a laboratory. For example, if I would try to determine the effect of a particular medicine that attempts to lower glucose levels ( note this is just an example, not necessarily transferrable to a real-life setting), I would need a group of people who have high glucose and do not take the medicine and compare the results with those who are taking the medicament.

Therefore:
