Explanation:

root crown is a very important part of the plant. Root crown is the part of plant where you see a tremendous change in vascular structure changes, as the root system gets transformed to shoot system at this part.

root crown is located just below the soil level mostly but it is also found above soil level sometimes. root crown needs should have sufficiently access to air to breathe.

figure below shows the exact or optimum placement of crown in the soil. here the soil above the crown needs to be properly aerated.
