Muscular dystrophy results in a disorder that causes weakening, loss in muscle mass and breakdown of skeletal muscles over time.

Explanation:

This occurs due to either inheriting the defect or occurrence of mutation during early development. Mutations in genes that are responsible in the synthesis of muscle proteins may occur.

This disorder may be X linked recessive, autosomal recessive or autosomal dominant.

In some cases the person may lose the ability to walk. People with muscular dystrophy get weak often to the extent that it shortens life span due to heart and breathing complications.
