What is a penumbral eclipse?

Solar eclipse makes two kind of shadows.One is dark shadow called Umbra and other lighter shadow known as penumbra. See diagram.

Explanation:

If you are in Umbra during eclipse you will see total eclipse.If you are located i n penumbra you will see penumbral eclipse.
