# What is a solution in which the solvent is water?

$\text{An aqueous solution...........}$
When we write species as aquated ions, i.e. $N {a}^{+} \left(a q\right)$ or $C {l}^{-} \left(a q\right)$, as far as anyone knows we mean the aquated ions, complex ions if you like, ${\left[N a {\left(O {H}_{2}\right)}_{6}\right]}^{+}$ or ${\left[C l {\left({H}_{2} O\right)}_{4 - 6}\right]}^{-}$.
