These are the glands that release their secretions on to a surface with the help of a duct.

Exo means Outside. An exocrine gland will release its secretion onto a surface (epithelial) by means of a duct. It is different from Endocrine glands in the way that endocrine glands will not possess any duct and they will simply release their secretions directly into the blood stream.
Example (Exocrine)- Sweat, salivary, mammary, lacrimal, sebaceous glands etc.
Example (Exocrine and Endocrine)- Liver and Pancreas
