Halley's Comet is a short-period comet which visits the Earth every 74-79 years, and is visible to the unaided eye.

Explanation:

The comet is important, due to the fact that it can appear twice in a person's life time, as well as being the first comet to be recognized as periodic (a repetitive cycle, such as visiting the Earth every 70 odd years).
It has been widely studied throughout history, with its first accounts of it dated between 468 and 466 BC, often being seen worldwide, either as an object of intrigue or fear.
