What is "Lord of the Flies" about? How is the title related to the events in the movie?
It is about man's inability to control his behaviour or emotions if left to his own devices.
Int he novel the behaviour of the boys, left on the island, degenerate until one of them is murdered. William Golding the author was arguing that man if left to his own devices will quickly degenerate into such base and inhuman behavior.
Therefore a structure is needed where clear norms and values shape man to behave in a moral fashion.
Lord of the Flies means Beelzebub or the Devil, in translation. Therefore it symbolises both in the title of the book and the film how man will inevitably, if left to himself, rapidly sink into immoral if not amoral behaviour, without the structures and direction of society.
