We can divide both sides of the equation by -2 to remove the coefficients of $x \mathmr{and} y$

$\frac{- 2 x - 2 y - 8}{-} 2 = \frac{0}{-} 2$

$x + y + 4 = 0$

Transposing $4$ to the right hand side, we get:
