a bilayer phospholipid (hydrophobic tails and hydrophyllic heads), cholesterol, glycolipids (grow off phospholipids), glycoproteins (grow off proteins), intrinsic Proteins (passes through both layers), extrinsic proteins (passes through only one layer), a channel protein/ transport protein/carrier protein, allows big molecules (glucose) to pass through the cell membrane
