There are different types of coefficients, it is not clear which you mean?

We could ask -
"What is the numerical coefficient in 1/3b ?" "rarr 1/3

What is the coefficient of $b$?
In this case there is only one other factor in the $b$ term $\rightarrow \frac{1}{3}$
The coefficient of $\frac{1}{3} \rightarrow \left(b + 1\right)$

Here is another example to illustrate coefficients.

In $3 {x}^{2} y \textcolor{w h i t e}{\times \times \times \times} \left(3 \times x \times x \times y\right)$

$3$ is the numerical coefficient - the number part.

$3 {x}^{2} y$ is the literal coefficient - the letter (variable) part

$3 x y$ is the coefficient of $x$

$3 y$ is the coefficient of ${x}^{2}$

$3 x$ is the coefficient of $x y$

$3 {x}^{2}$ is the coefficient of y
