I may be wrong but I think you refer to the coefficient of linear expansion ....thermal linear expansion...

Explanation:

It is a number that tells us the change of length of an object for a change of #1^@C# of temperature.
The length considered is relative to the original and so our coefficient gives us the fractional change (=how many times...) of the object with temperature (units of #1/(°C)#).
